Yogananda Speaks on Reincarnation

The problem of reincarnation is the greatest mystery, as nature does not want to discourage undeveloped souls.

Supermen remember their past. I knew from my childhood that I was to follow the spiritual path and that galaxies of souls were to enliven my life.

I have experienced truths of the past actually to my best satisfaction, and more than I could begin to write here.

Reincarnation teaches souls to travel through the mineral, plant, animal, and human life of all the races of brown, white, black, yellow, and red, so that they may become attached to the confinement of one body or one race, but may learn to perceive themselves as omnipresent children of God, present in everything.

As long as one has hatred and ^repulsion in his heart, so long must he keep roaming through the corridors of incarnations. After eight million lives, the human life is finally attained, according to Hindu masters.

So, do not waste precious hard-earned human life in foolishness, wading in the mud of the senses and ignorance, but realize that in this human life you have the chance, by conscious trance-unity with omnipresent Spirit, and by feeling brotherhood with all creation, to know yourself as not wholly belonging to anything, or any race, but as belonging to everything, and every being.

When you feel that the stars, clouds, birds, beasts, men, and outcasts, are all your blood relatives, and when your heart throbs in them, then the compelled imprisonment of reincarnation will be no more, but you will freely go everywhere to open the gates of rainbow wisdom, so that all sorrowing, groaning animate and inanimate life may make a rushing exodus into the everlasting in God.
