For the past 30 years, Ram has followed the teachings of Paramhansa Yogananda. His spiritual teacher, J. Donald Walters a.k.a. Swami Kriyananda, is founder of the Ananda Church of Self-Realization in Nevada City, California and is a direct-disciple of Paramhansa Yogananda. With deep gratitude Ram, extends his unconditional friendship to Kriyananda for what he's given to him spiritually over the years of training at Ananda.

Ram's spiritual journey has been certainly a unique one. He's presented the Self-realization teachings throughout the U.S. and in many countries world-wide including Nigeria, Zimbabwe and South Africa. He lived for seven years (1984-91) in Italy, where he helped to establish the Ananda Assisi retreat center and community. Presently, Ram lives at Ananda's Meditation and Yoga Retreat in Rhode Island, where he leads kirtans, other musical programs and retreats.
